Become a fire warden

To help the person in Control with their fire safety responsibility, you might be asked or can volunteer to become a Fire Warden or a Fire Precautions Officer. As a Fire Warden you’ll be responsible for helping with day to day fire safety and assisting the Incident Officer during an evacuation.

As a Fire Precaution Officer you’ll manage the fire safety for your premises and arrange annual fire evacuation drills, test the fire alarm and emergency lighting, review the fire risk assessment and ensure anyone requiring help during an emergency evacuation is given assistance.

To become a Fire Precautions Officer you must complete the online Managing Fire Safety training and carryout requirements highlighted in Fire Precautions Guide 4 appointment of a fire precautions officer and summary task.
